Kamala Harris’ Doctor Confirms She’s in Excellent Health and Fit to Serve – Lifestyle

Dr. Joshua Simmons, a U.S. Army colonel and the personal physician to the vice president, provided an insightful update regarding Kamala Harris’s health. At 59 years old, Harris maintains a vibrant and active lifestyle, engaging in various physical activities that contribute to her well-being. Dr. Simmons pointed out that her most recent physical examination, conducted in April, was considered “unremarkable,” indicating no significant health concerns or abnormalities. This assessment reflects her overall fitness and suggests that she is managing her health effectively amidst her demanding responsibilities.
In a letter released to the public on Saturday, Dr. Simmons offered a detailed confirmation of Vice President Harris’s health status. He stated that she is in “excellent health,” emphasizing not only her physical condition but also her mental resilience, which is crucial for fulfilling the role of president. The letter serves as a thorough overview of her medical history, showcasing her health trajectory and current well-being. Dr. Simmons’s assessment underscores Harris’s capability to handle the rigorous demands of the presidency, reassuring the public about her readiness to serve in such a critical position.
She “possesses the physical and mental resiliency required to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency, to include those as Chief Executive, Head of State and Commander in Chief,” he wrote in a two-page letter.
Harris’s campaign is strategically positioning itself to capitalize on recent developments in order to draw a stark contrast between her and Republican candidate Donald Trump. The campaign intends to highlight the significant differences in their transparency regarding health issues. While Trump has historically disclosed minimal information about his health, Harris aims to utilize her own health disclosures to raise questions about Trump’s overall fitness for office. This approach is intended to prompt voters to consider the implications of his limited transparency, particularly regarding his ability to handle the demanding responsibilities of the presidency. This insight comes from a campaign aide who spoke on the condition of anonymity, emphasizing the sensitive nature of these discussions as they strategize for the upcoming election.
Trump’s reluctance to share detailed health information has been a point of contention, especially in light of recent events. For instance, even after an assassination attempt in July that resulted in a bullet grazing his ear, he provided very little information about his health status or recovery. This lack of transparency raises additional questions about his approach to health and wellness in a high-stakes political environment. On the other hand, Dr. Joshua Simmons, who has been Harris’s primary care physician for the past three and a half years, has openly discussed her health history. He revealed that the vice president has a documented history of allergies and urticaria, commonly known as hives. To effectively manage these conditions, she has been undergoing allergen immunotherapy for the last three years, demonstrating her proactive approach to health and wellness in contrast to Trump’s opacity.
Simmons said Harris’ latest blood work and other test results were “unremarkable.”
The report also revealed that Harris wears contact lenses to address mild nearsightedness and has a family history that includes maternal colon cancer. She is current with preventive health measures, having undergone both a colonoscopy and annual mammograms as part of her routine care.
As Harris’s office made the medical report public, her campaign seized the opportunity to draw attention to recent media coverage questioning Trump’s health and mental sharpness, as well as his lack of transparency regarding his medical history and current health status.
At 78, Trump has frequently raised concerns about President Joe Biden’s health, especially during Biden’s re-election campaign when the 81-year-old was under scrutiny. However, since Biden appointed Harris to the ticket, greater attention has been focused on Trump’s own health as well.
In November, Trump celebrated Biden’s birthday by sharing a letter from his physician that stated the former president was in “excellent” physical and mental health.
However, the letter, which was posted on Trump’s social media platform, lacked any supporting details to substantiate these claims, omitting important metrics such as weight, blood pressure, cholesterol levels, or results from any medical tests.
